Abstract

These Regulations are made in terms of section 65(q) of the Electricity Act [Chapter 13:19]. The objective of these Regulations is to regulate the installation, licensing, operation, repair, maintenance, retrofit and upgrade of solar water heating systems. Section 3 lays down the application of these Regulations. Section 5 prohibits electrical geysers and requires that all new premises must install and use solar water heating systems. Section 6 provides the exemptions. Section 7 requires compliance with standards mentioned in second schedule. Section 8 allows for conventional backup water heating systems to be installed. Section 11 states that the installed water heaters shall have a minimum guarantee period of five years.
