Abstract

These Rules, implementing section 66 of the Sierra Leone Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission Act, no. 13 of 2011, apply to regulated suppliers in the water and electricity sectors and concern: requirements and procedures for electricity licence; requirements and procedures for water distribution licence; construction of waterworks and water transmission pipelines; use of facilities and equipments to provide safe, adequate and economic service to consumers; conditions of electricity generation, transmission and distribution licence; water use permits; respect of water quality standards in water production; sustainable use and optimisation of water resources; consumer protection measures; compliance with environmental requirements and health and safety legislation. The Appendices provide for specific requirements for electricity generation licence concerning renewable energy plants; water abstraction rights; environmental impact assessment.
