The Act further aims to promote the prevailing national policies on combating climate change. The text provides on the responsibilities, functions and powers of the Regulator, application and grant of license for generating electricity, and tariffs to be set by the Regulator. Part 5 of the text refers to standards of electricity services to be developed by the Regulator. Part 6 provides provision for consumer protection and disputes between consumers and electricity network services licensee. The text further lays out for power system expansion plan, regulator’s prior approval for entering into power purchase agreements with independent power producers. Full text English
