The Act contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms therein employed such as, for example, “Commission”, “rate base”, “electric energy”, “Minister”, “Operating Fund”, “public utility”, “service”. In particular, the Act deals with issues such as the powers of the Island and Regulatory and Appeals Commission, service by the Maritime Electric Company, areas served by other public utilities, construction of lines subject to approval of Commission, discontinuance of service, information provided upon request, interruption of electrical energy, installation of appliances, penalties, etc. The text consists of 47 sections.
