Abstract The purpose of this Act shall be to regulate generation, transmission and distribution of electricity ensuring the public interest. All activities in electric power sector shall be subject to licensing. The authorized institution with competences in the electric power sector is Electrical Power sector Regulation Agency (EPSRA). The Act consists of four Parts divided into 19 articles dealing with the following matters: (a) general provisions (Part 1, arts. 1 – 7); (b) emergency situations (Part 2, art. 8); operational and technical management (Part 3, arts. 9 – 17); transitional provisions (Part. 4, arts. 18 and 19). National Electro-energetic Grid System administers the national electric power distribution and supply system.
