Abstract

This Chapter prescribes rules of hygiene for any food service establishment (as defined in section 1), mobile food service establishment or vending machine. The Director Department of Public Health and Social Services may inspect and sample food under section 2 and condemn and forbid the sale of, or cause to be seized, removed or destroyed, any food or drink which is unwholesome or adulterated. Section 5 sets out the procedure when infection of an employee of a food establishment is suspected. Section 6 provides for grading of food service establishments Every food service establishment shall display in a place designated by the Director, a placard approved by him or her stating the grade (as stated in section 6) received at the time of the most recent inspection of the establishment. Other provisions concern construction or remodelling of food establishments, regulation making by the Director, disclosure of sale of Monosodium Glutamate and prescribe offences and penalties.
