Long title
An Act to provide for the prevention and abatement of the misuse and abuse of drugs; to provide for the rehabilitation of victims of misuse and abuse of drugs; and to provide for a centralised coordination of anti-drug activities in Saint Christopher and Nevis, and in that connection to establish a National Council on Drug Abuse Prevention; and to provide for related or incidental matters.

Abstract

This Act lays down provisions on the controlled drugs, including veterinary drugs, and their classifications; restriction of importation, exportation and production and supply of controlled drugs; drug trafficking offence; powers of the Police Force to search, obtain evidence and arrest and retention and disposal of seized controlled drug; the establishment, functions, powers and funds of the National Council on Drug Abuse Prevention; licences or other authorities issued by the Minister for the purposes of this Act; and offences and penalties. Fourth Schedule annexed to this Act lays down rules for dangerous drugs and sets out the conditions of prescription for the supply of the drugs to which the Act applies, and underlines that a prescription shall only be given by a veterinary surgeon for the purposes of treatment of animals and shall be marked “For animal treatment only.”
