Abstract The purpose of the present Act is to ensure the prevention and control of diseases among animals. The Act contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms employed therein, such as “animal”, “dealer”, “disease”, and “inspector”. According to Section 3 an inspector may enter into any premises other than dwelling houses and exercise any power and perform any duty conferred or imposed upon him by the regulations with respect to the prevention and control of any disease. Furthermore, the Act deals with, amongst others, matters such as inspection of animals in stockyards, duty of owners to admit and assist inspectors, powers of minister respecting diseases, power of minister to make certain payments, penalties, etc. The Act consists of 11 sections.
