A person shall not move a sheep or cause a sheep to be moved - (a) onto a commonage from another place whether such commonage is part of a holding or otherwise, or (b) from a commonage to another place unless the sheep has inserted in its an ear ear-tag approved pursuant to the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (National Sheep Identification System) Order, 2001 (S.I. No. 281 of 2001) that bears: (a) the animal identification number issued or deemed to be issued to the owner of a sheep, and (b) the individual animal identification number of the sheep.
