Abstract

These Regulations make provision with respect to the prevention and fighting of animal diseases. They introduce various measures to control movement and hygiene of stock, such as import control (regs. 4 and 5), inoculation (6); examination (7); slaughter (12); stock free zones (14); inspection (15); destruction of stock (24); isolation of stock (28); impounding of stray stock (45); branding of cattle (50); etc. Regulations 75 to 102 contain special measures for specific diseases. Regulation 3 specifies diseases for the purpose of these Regulations. Importation of stock shall be imported only after having obtained a permit from the Director of Veterinary services (reg. 5). The Minister may, by Notice in the Official Gazette, declare any area to be a diseased area (reg. 84).
