Abstract

This Law makes provisions for the prevention of the introduction and spread of infectious and contagious diseases amongst animals. This Law gives powers to the Commissioner for Agriculture of the State to make regulations as required for the furtherance of the Law. The definition section extends to a more general definition of animals by including both domestic and wild animals, it also gives the Commissioner the power to broaden the list by adding more specific animals at his utmost discretion. Till date, the Commissioner of Agriculture has essentially made some subsidiary legislation and regulations for the execution of the Law. Some of these subsidiary legislations are contained in the Law and provide greater detail on the respective subject.
