Abstract

The present Regulation is made under the Emergency Measure Act. The purpose of the Regulation is to assist local authorities financially when the eligible costs incurred as a result of a disaster exceeding the amount which any local authority may reasonably be expected to bear on its own. The Regulation contains also Guidelines whose purpose is to provide guidance for officials being responsible for evaluating and determining the eligibility of those costs which are directly associated and resultant from a disaster and its immediate effects to form a basis for cost-sharing between the Province and local authorities. The text – consisting of 6 sections – deals with the following aspects: disaster financial assistance policy, disaster financial assistance policy and procedure, appeal from disaster assistance award.
