Abstract This Directive is composed of 21 articles. Article 1 deals with terms and definitions. Article 2 decrees the establishment of the Licensing Committee for Cooling. Prohibition to establish a Cool Store without previous licences by the Ministry of Agriculture (art. 4). Article 6 defines equipment and instruments necessary for cool stores. Cool stores should be provided with technical and sanitary requirements issued by the relevant departments (art. 8). Vegetables and fruits destined to be cooled should be free from diseases, parasites and insects (art. 10). Article 12 specifies conditions and requirements necessary for storing operations. Article 14 decrees the necessity to disinfect and clean cooling rooms before and after storing operations. Storeowners shall inform monthly the Ministry of Agriculture regarding the input and output quantities in cooling rooms (art. 20). Article 21 contains offences and penalties.
