This Directive enters into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Abstract

This Directive is composed of 15 articles. Article 1 deals with terms and definitions. Article 2 decrees the establishment of the Licensing Committee for Fresh Vegetables and Fruits Whole Markets. Articles 3 and 4 prohibit the establishment of the aforementioned markets without previous licences by the Minister of Agriculture. Article 7 decrees that the sale in the aforementioned markets should be carried out by public auctions. Article 10 defines technical requirements and conditions necessary for the establishment of whole markets for fresh vegetables and fruits. All crops and agricultural commodities in markets shall be subjected to the inspection and control of the Ministry of Agriculture (art. 12). The sale should be carried out by auctions on the basis of weights (art. 13). Article 15 contains offences and penalties.
