Abstract

The principal Decree applies to fishing by Norwegian and foreign vessels in the Norwegian economic Zone beyond the 12 nautical mile limit measured from the baseline. It specifies areas and periods in which it is prohibited to fish with trawlers and provides for the establishment of `flexible areas' in which for certain periods restrictions are placed upon the use of specified gear or in which the fishing with specified gear is altogether prohibited. The present Directive of the Director of Fisheries establishes a flexible area in Moskenesgrunnen and Rostbanken of which the coordinates are specified. In the area the duty to notify the coast guard pursuant to section 9 of the Decree is in force.
