Abstract This Law determines the responsibilities, organisation and the functioning of the Gender Monitoring Office (Office) in national development. The Office has a legal personality and an administrative and financial autonomy. General responsibilities of the Office are listed in Article 5 that include monitoring and carrying out evaluation on a permanent basis of compliance with gender indicators; submitting recommendations to various institutions; and monitoring the respect of the principle of gender in national development and submit to the Cabinet its annual programme of action. Article 6 and 7 respectively refer to the specific responsibilities of the Office and its power. The text further provides for organisation and functioning of the Office through High Monitoring Council; members appointment; responsibilities of the Chief Gender Monitor; and reporting schedules.
