Abstract

These Rules, issued by the Director-General of the Department of Fisheries under paragraph 1 of section 88 of the Royal Fisheries Ordinance of 2015, concern obligations of a fishing vessel registered as a carrier for the transshipment of aquatic animals or as a vessel for the storage of aquatic animals and that operates outside Thai fisheries waters to have installed a fishing vessel monitoring system and maintain the functionality thereof at all times in accordance with the rules and procedures prescribed by the Director-General. It also concerns testing of VMSs on board of such vessels by Fisheries Monitoring Center, Department of Fisheries and procedures to be followed in case the system is not functioning. Attached are the Equipment Capacity Standards and Functional Requirements and the Installation of the Vessel Monitoring System for Fishing Vessels Registers as Aquatic animal transshipment vessels or storage vessels at the High Seas Outside Thai waters.
