An Act to consolidate and amend the laws relating to co-operative societies, to facilitate the voluntary formation and democratic functioning of cooperatives as people's institutions based on self help and mutual aid to enable them to promote their economic and social betterment and to provide for better regulation, management, functional autonomy of such societies and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

Abstract

This Act, consisting of 142 sections divided into fourteen Chapters and one Schedule, aims at consolidating and amending the laws relating to co-operative societies, to facilitate the voluntary formation and democratic functioning of cooperatives as people's institutions based on self help and mutual aid to enable them to promote their economic and social betterment and to provide for better regulation, management, functional autonomy of such societies in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It specifies the requirements to be satisfied by cooperative societies to be registered in the Cooperatives' Registry of Delhi. No co-operative society shall be registered under this Act unless it consists of at least fifteen members who are qualified to be members under this Act and who reside in the area of operation of the co-operative society.
