Abstract

Sanitary rules and regulations No. 10-124 related to the hygienic requirements for water quality in centralized drinking water supply systems establish hygienic requirements for the quality of potable water, as well as rules for controlling the quality of water abstracted and supplied by centralized potable water supply systems for residential areas. They shall be destined for state executive authorities and local self-government bodies, enterprises, organizations, institutions and other legal entities, officials and individual entrepreneurs without formation of a legal entity, the activities of which are related to the design, construction, operation of water supply systems and provision of potable water to the population, as well as organizations implementing state and departmental sanitary and epidemiological supervision. Sanitary rules and regulations shall be applicable to water supplied by water supply systems and intended for consumption by the population for drinking and domestic purposes, for use in the processes of processing of food raw materials and manufacturing of foodstuffs, their storage and trade, as well as for the production of commodities requiring the use of water of drinking quality. Requirements of these Sanitary rules and regulations shall be fulfilled during development of state water quality standards, construction norms and rules in the field of potable water supply to the population, design and technical documentation of water supply systems, as well as during construction and operation of water supply systems. The quality of potable water supplied by the water supply system shall comply with the requirements of these Sanitary rules and regulations. The organization performing production control of potable water quality shall be obliged to immediately inform territorial body of hygienic and epidemiological supervision about each result of laboratory tests of water samples that do not comply with hygienic standards. Potable water should be epidemiologically and radiologically safe, be chemically harmless and have favorable organoleptic properties. The quality of potable water must comply with hygienic standards before it enters the distribution network, as well as at the water points of the external and internal water supply network.
