Abstract

By adopting this Decree, the Ministry of the Environment has provided for the establishment of the marine portected area to be known as “Isola dell’Asinara”, the boundaries of which are defined by a line joining the points referred to in article 2. The area shall be divided for protection purposes into Zone A (Total Reserve), Zone B (General Reserve) and Zone C (Partial Reserve). The following aims shall be pursued: (a) environmental protection of the marine area concerned; (b) protection and improvement of biological resources; (c) promotion of the knowledge of the ecological and biological aspects of marine and coastal areas; (d) performance of scientific studies and research (art. 3). Article 4 specifies the activities which are banned within the marine area, such as hunting, introduction of weapons, gathering of plants, etc. Further prohibitions are laid down in paragraphs 3 to 10 with respect to the three different Zones (fishing, both sport and professional; navigation; bathing; etc.). Article 5 determines the entities which may be empowered to carry out the management of the marine area.
