Abstract This Decree makes provision for assessment of risk for the environment and public health of the release of genetically modified organisms. It regulates the contents and handling of impact assessment reports which shall accompany the application for approval pursuant to section 11 of the Act. Approval authorities are the Department of Environment for release of material and the Department of Social Affairs for restricted use. Such confined use shall only be approved if a assessment of risk of leaking out of the material accompanies the request. The approving authority may submit the impact assessment report to the Biotechnology Board in order to obtain an opinion on the assessment and possible measures to be taken. The remaining provisions of this Decree concern form and contents of the assessment and the power of approving authorities to attach as a condition to approval the submittal possible subsequent reports on effects of the release of material.
