Abstract

This Decree concerns the hygienic control of the processing of whale meat on board of whaling vessels, the delivery to landing stations and further processing and storage at the landing station (sect. 2). "Whale meat" is defined as all edible parts of a whale. Chapter II provides for the approval of whaling vessels by the Directorate of Fisheries and of landing stations by municipal food control authorities. Chapter III prescribes requirements with regard to operations on board of whaling vessels and in particular with respect to training programmes, installations and equipment, cleaning and desinfection, blood-letting, cool storage, and processing of meat on deck.
