Abstract The Decree is based on EC Council Directives 64/432/EC and Directive 72/426/EC. The text of the Decree consists of 20 sections divided into 4 Chapters: Scope, application sphere and definitions (I); General requirements (II); Requirements relative to health (III); Final provisions (IV).¦The Decree aims at the prevention of infectious diseases in relation with the importation and exportation of animals of the bovine species, including buffaloes and bison from and to EEA countries and third countries. General requirements concern registered establishments, transport, earmarking and tattooing, and health certificates. Chapter III contains specific requirements in relation with single diseases such as, bovine brucellosis, bovine tuberculosis and mouth and foot disease.
