Abstract Section 9 of the Plant Breeders' Rights Act assigns the power to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to further regulate the Plant Varieties Board which may be created by the Ministry for purposes of registration of plant breeders' rights. The Board shall be assisted by a Plant Varieties Office which shall act as secretariat to the Board and be led by a Director which shall be appointed by the Ministry. The Board shall have the right to enter into agreements for research purposes also with registration authorities of other member states of the UPOV Convention.
