Abstract The present Decree implements federal legislation on the environment and outlines the competences of the Canton and local authorities. Everyone must respect the environment and comply with the regulations in force. Cantons and local authorities shall inform the public about the state of the environment. With a view to improve the protection of the environment local authorities may cooperate with third parties. Part B lays down provisions relating to air pollution, protection from unnecessary noise, hazardous substances, waste prevention and soil pollution. Part C deals with environmental audit proceedings.
