Abstract This Decree of the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture provides, in accordance with European Union legislation, the definition of surface waters for the purposes of identification and assessment of water treatment and management plans. The surface water body is defined over the network of rivers as a continuous coherent sub-unit that allows the assessment of surface water and carrying out programs of action under par.26 of the Water Act. The present Decree is composed of five articles and one Annex which contains descriptive characteristics of surface water categories.
