Abstract

In implementation of Regional Act No. 53 of 6 April 2000, this Regulation makes provision with respect to control activities carried out for the purpose of ensuring the compliance with the prohibition of the cultivation and production of plant species which contain GMO. Article 2 lays down the definition of cultivation and production of Genetically Modified Species as well as the definition of seed materials. The above-mentioned controls shall be performed on the basis of the annual programme to be drafted by the Regional Agency for the Development of the Agricultural and Forestry Sector (ARSIA). Such controls shall apply particularly to the species listed out in article 3, paragraph 3 (among others, corn, soya, tomatoes, tobacco, potatoes, vine). Article 6 refers to the application of penalties.
