This Decree shall come into force on 17 October 2001.
Abstract

This Decre establishes the requirements related to the Procedures for Implementing Community Monitoring Systems in the Management and Utilization of Marine and Fisheries Resources. In order to maximize the use of marine fisheries resources in optimal, responsible and sustainable way, it is imperative to make participate actively local communities. It lays down the procedures as referred to the SISWASMAS (set forth in the Appendix). These procedures are used as a reference to the public, officials and/or the public and the business community in implementing SISWASMAS. Provisions for fisheries supervision carried out by the community have been regulated by this Decree. The SISWASMAS (Community Based Monitoring System) aims to realize the management and utilization of Marine and Fisheries resources.
