Abstract

With this Decree, consisting of six articles and two attached appendices, the Minister of Marine and Fisheries defines waters in the Eastern Region of Bintan Island as a conservation area and establishes water parks in the defined area, consisting of three different zones with limited uses, including: rehabilitation zone, marine buildings, port zone, ship lane zone. This Ministerial Decree is made in order to protect, preserve and profit of marine biodiversity, including coral reef ecosystems, seagrass beds and fish breeding habitats and considering that the attractiveness of natural phenomena of the waters of Bintan Island are a great opportunity to support the development of marine tourism.
