Abstract

This Decree sets out the conditions for the use of hired foreign fishing vessels in Indonesia. An Indonesian fishing company shall possess the necessary fishing operations licences. Vessels of eight hundred GRT or more shall be used only in the EEZ of Indonesia. Article 2 sets out the conditions for obtaining fishing Business licences and Fishing Licences. Article 3 specifies the type of fishing gear that may be used. The Director General of Fishery shall appoint a homeport for each fishing vessel hired. The Indonesian company shall be either export the catch or sell it on the local market and meet other conditions set out in article 5. Articles 6 and 7 concern the payment of a fishery levy. The Director General of Fishery may place limits on the number of fishing vessels carrying foreign flags and limit the areas where fishing may be carried out.
