Abstract Section 1 delimits the protection forest areas in Lapland. Section 2 formulates a general principle of proper management of such forests. Renewal of such forests may be based on natural renewal, seeds, or planting of trees. A felling and renewal plan shall as provided for in comma 2 of section 12 of the Forestry Act shall contain all tasks prescribed by section 9, commas 1 and 2 of the Forestry Regulation (1200/1996).
