Abstract This decree, composed of 4 articles, institutes the Inter-Ministerial Executive Committee for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, with the aim of establishing guidelines and co-ordinating all actions related to the protection of the ozone layer. Among the Committee competences envisaged by the Decree, there are: coordinating all actions related to the implementation of the Brazilian Programme for the Elimination of the Production and Consumption of Substances Destroying the Ozone Layer (PBCO) and promote policies and guidelines related to ozone layer protection.
