Abstract This Decree, composed of 6 articles, regulates the institution of the National Committee on Wetlands. The Decree defines its composition, structure and competences aimed at the protection, management and rational use of environmental resources related to areas comprised in the list of Brazilian Wetlands of international interest. The Decree establishes the Committee’s coordination role with the international bodies in charge for the implementation of the “Convention on Wetlands of international importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat”.
