Abstract This Decree, composed of 5 articles, institutes the National Forest of Balata-Tufari, in Amazonas State. The aim is to promote the sustainable management of the forest resources, the maintenance and protection of water resources and biodiversity, the restoration of degraded areas, and environmental awareness activities. The management of the forest shall be carried out by IBAMA, the Brazilian Institute for Environment and Renewable Natural resources.
