Abstract This Decree, composed of eight articles, institutes the Sustainable Forestry District (DFS) of BR - 163, located within the States of Amazonas and Pará. The aim is to implement public policies stimulating sustainable forestry. In particular, the Decree establishes an interinstitutional working group (GTI) to plan and manage the activities necessary for socio-economic development of the area based on forestry activities granting, at the same time, environmental protection.
