Abstract This Decree, composed of 5 articles, institutes the “Sempre-Vivas” National Park located within the municipalities of Olhos d`Água, Bocaiúva, Buenópolis e Diamantina, in the State of Minas Gerais. The aim of the Decree is to preserve the existing ecosystems, enabling the sustainable use and conservation of renewable natural resources, the scientific research and the development of environmental activities. The Decree stipulates that the land included in the National Park pertains to the Union and, as such, shall be administered by the Brazilian Institute for Environment and Natural Resources (IBAMA).
