Abstract This Decree, composed of 4 articles, institutes the “Mandira” Extractive Reserve located within the municipality of Cananéia, in the State of São Paulo. The aim of the Decree is to preserve the existing ecosystems, enabling the sustainable use and conservation of renewable natural resources, protecting local culture. The Decree stipulates that the land included in the Reserve pertains to the Union and, as such, shall be administered by the Brazilian Institute for Environment and Natural Resources (IBAMA).
