Abstract This Decree, composed of 5 articles, institutes the “Catimbau” National Park located within the municipalities of Ibirimirim, Tupanatinga e Buíque, in the State of Pernambuco. The aim of the Decree is to preserve the existing ecosystems, enabling the scientific research and the development of environmental activities. The Decree stipulates that the land included in the National Park pertains to the Union and, as such, shall be administered by the Brazilian Institute for Environment and Natural Resources (IBAMA).
