Abstract

This Decree implements the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. State Duma notes that after examination of information forwarded by the Committee on National Security of State Duma, regarding preliminary valuation of the consequences of the implementation of the Agreement between the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on maritime boundaries for the national interests of the Russian Federation there are grounds for classification of the aforesaid Agreement as an unbalanced international agreement which contents cast doubt on its compliance with the national interests of the Russian Federation in the first place in the sphere of fisheries. State Duma decrees to recommend the Government of the Russian Federation to make arrangements for speeding-up elaboration of the official position towards the Agreement between the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on maritime boundaries in strict compliance with the national interests of the Russian Federation, to forward the present decree to the Government of the Russian Federation and to the “Parliamentary Gazette” for official publication.
