Abstract

This Decree provides for the evaluation of animal welfare protocols prepared by rodeo promoters by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply. The Ministry is responsible for evaluating the animal welfare protocols elaborated by rodeo promoters, considering the modalities covered by art. 1 of Law No. 10.519 of 17 July 2002. Protocols developed by rodeo promoters considered appropriate to ensure animal welfare will be recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply. The Minister of State for Agriculture, Livestock and Supply will attest to the recognition of the animal welfare protocols. It is incumbent upon the state and district agricultural and livestock health protection agencies, as intermediary instance of the Unified Agricultural Health Care System, to verify compliance with the animal welfare protocols recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.
