Abstract This Decree provides for the Deliberative Council of the Amazon Protection System. It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Council (Consipam) as a deliberative body whose purpose is to establish guidelines for the coordination and implementation of government actions, within the scope of the Amazon Protection System - Sipam, in compliance with the Integrated National Policy for the Legal Amazon. The purpose of Sipam is to integrate, evaluate and disseminate information for the planning and coordination of global government actions with operations in the Amazon region, with a view to enhancing the sustainable development of the region. Consipam is responsible for: establish guidelines and priorities for the conduct of Sipam's implementation actions; deliberate on the multiannual plan; propose measures with a view of articulating and exchanging Sipam's actions with the organs and entities of the federal, state, district and municipal public administration and private institutions; monitor the implementation and evaluate the results of the actions developed by Sipam programmes and projects.
