This Decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Decree, consisting of 7 articles, creates the Boqueirão da Onça National Park, located in the Municipalities of Sento Sé, Juazeiro, Sobradinho and Campo Formoso, within the State of Bahia. National Park objectives cover the following activities: protect the biological diversity and natural environments, flora and fauna of the caatinga, including altitudinal transitions; to ensure the management of endangered wildlife population, rare or endemic species of the region, such as the jaguar (Panthera onca), Lear's Macaw (Anodorhynchus leari) and the three-banded armadillo (Tolypeutes tricinctus); protect the karst formations and associated paleontological and archaeological sites; protect and promote the recovery of plants of the area and preserve and enhance the natural landscapes and heritage; provide the development of recreational activities related nature and ecological tourism. The National Park of Boqueirão da Onça, with approximately 347,557 hectares will be administered by the Chico Mendes Institute, which will adopt the necessary measures for its control, protection and implementation.
