Abstract This Decree creates the Integrated Monitoring and Protection System (SIMP). SIMP integrates a set of several levels of monitoring and protection, consisting of a technological solution, observation satellite, radars, vehicles, interception boats, patrol and manned and unmanned aircraft, aiming to ensure, from observation, the obtaining of reliable information in real time that allows the prompt intervention of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS). In particular, SIMP's attributions are to: guarantee the safety of people, resources, goods and infrastructure, as well as safe transit in the different national marine spaces; contribute to the strengthening of inspection of fishing activities and exploitation of different marine resources; ensuring the integrity of national borders; ensuring strict compliance with environmental standards; protect underwater cultural heritage; coordinate search and rescue operations.
