Abstract This Decree promulgates the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals of June 23, 1979. The Convention establishes that the Parties recognise the importance of the conservation of migratory species and the agreement of States to adopt measures to this end, where possible and appropriate, with particular attention to migratory species whose conservation status is unfavorable, and taking individually or in cooperation, appropriate and necessary measures for the conservation of these species and their habitats. The Parties recognise the need to take measures to prevent any migratory species from becoming a threatened species. In particular, the Parties shall: (a) promote research on migratory species, cooperate with and support them; (b) endeavor to provide immediate protection to migratory species included in Annex I; and (c) endeavor to conclude Agreements on the conservation and management of migratory species listed in Annex II.
