This Decree enters into force on the date of publication.
Abstract

This Decree regulates Environmental Policy Act No. 6.938 of 31 August 1981 and Act No. 6.902 of 27 April 1981 on the creation of protected areas. It consists of 50 articles specifying enforcement procedures to be applied by competent authorities within environmental and wildlife sectors. It defines duties, competencies and composition of different authorities (CONAMA, SISNAMA, SEMA, etc.) entitled of guaranteeing the preservation of natural resources and protected areas. This Decree establishes licence requirements for the exploitation of environmental resources and provides for controls to be carried out and sanctions to be paid by offenders.
