Abstract This Decree, consisting of 4 Chapters, establishes composition, structure, competence and functioning of the National Council for Rural Sustainable Development (CONDRAF). CONDRAF, collegial body member of the basic structure of the Ministry of Agrarian Development, aims to propose guidelines for the formulation and implementation of structural policy consultation and coordination between the different levels of government and civil society organizations for sustainable rural development, agrarian reform and family farming. CONDRAF is entitled to perform the following activities: to promote the design of structural policies, based on the objectives and goals related to land reform, the reorganization of agrarian development, family farming and other policies related to rural sustainable development; to consider the rural areas as the focus of planning and management of sustainable rural development programmes between rural and urban spaces; to propose follow-up strategies, monitoring, evaluation and participation in the deliberative process guidelines and procedures for policies related to sustainable rural development; to propose the adequacy of federal public policy to the demand of the society and the needs of sustainable development of rural areas in order to incorporate experiences, considering the need for the articulation of a territorial economy and the importance of their externalities, align efforts and encourage actions aimed at overcoming poverty by generating employment and income; reducing gender, ethnical, regional and generational based inequalities; etc. Full text Portuguese Website www.planalto.gov.br References - Legislation Repeals Decree No. 4.854 on composition, structure, competence and functioning of the National Council for Rural Sustainable Development (CONDRAF).
