Article 1 defines tasks of the Directorate of National Project on Shifting to Modern Irrigation, which are to: control the shifting of land irrigation from traditional methods to modern methods; lay down the annual production and investment plan of the Project; lay down studies, designs and technical requirements notes for field irrigation networks; receive and approve applications and studies which are compatible with technical requirements submitted by beneficiaries of the Project; refer approved applications to the Fund Management established for financing the Project; ensure that the installed irrigation networks are in line with approved and adopted studies; monitor the continuous use of installed networks till the end of the loan term; coordinate with the Ministry of Industry to define requirements for irrigation equipment; coordinate with the concerned research and guidance departments to report research results; organize training courses; and lay down database and periodic reports for farmers. Article 2 deals with the management and internal organization of the Directorate. Article 3 establishes Field Units under the control of the Directorate of the Project called “Shifting Units to Modern Irrigation". Full text English/Arabic
