This Decree enters into force 90 days after its publication in the O.J.
Abstract

This Decree, composed of two articles and one Annex, approves the Regulation on Bio-Medical Waste Management. This Regulation, composed of 33 articles, applies to any waste produced by bio-medical activities and aims at granting health and safety of workers, minimizing, at the same time, the environmental impact. To this end, it provides waste management specific plans and provides a detailed classification of waste typologies. Special attention is devoted to hazardous substances and radioactive waste. The regulation defines waste management as well as storage and transport requirements. Finally, it sets the penalties and fees for non compliance with its norms and standards.
