Abstract This Decree, consisting of 8 Chapters and 8 Annexes, establishes the Regulation on aquaculture activity within the State of Goiás. This State Regulation establishes administrative proceedings for regulating, managing and licensing any activity related to aquaculture within the State. This Regulation aims at promoting: development of aquaculture, guaranteeing the sustainable use of fisheries resources, as well as the optimization of the economic benefits, according to the harmonisation of the environmental preservation and the conservation of biodiversity; planning, promotion and control over aquaculture activity; socio-economic, cultural and professional development of people and communities involved in aquaculture activities. It is divided as follows: General provisions (Chap. I); Definitions (Chap. II); Sustainability of using fisheries resources in aquaculture (Chap. III); Aquaculture (Chap.
