Abstract This Decree approves the Statute of the Brazilian Institution for Research on Livestock (EMBRAPA). The Statute of EMBRAPA, funded by Law No. 5.851 of 7 December 1972, consists of 9 Chapters (in Annex) establishes competencies, composition and functioning of this National Institution, entitled to: share technological knowledge on National agricultural development; give technical and administrative support to the Government on matters regarding the coordination of agricultural and scientific policies; stimulate and promote research on livestock through technical cooperation with other organizations and to coordinate the National System of Research on Livestock (SNPA).
